Google Invest in India - $10 Billion digitisation fund

Google to set up global fintech operation centre in Gujarat

Google's CEO, Sundar Pichai met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his three-day state visit to the United States, where they discussed India's digitisation efforts.
The meeting between Pichai and Prime Minister Modi showcased the growing partnership between Google and India. Pichai expressed his honour at meeting the Prime Minister, praising his vision for Digital India, which he described as being ahead of its time and a blueprint for other nations.
Mr. Pichai also shared Google's plans to open a global fintech operation centre in GIFT City, Gujarat, highlighting the company's commitment to supporting India's digitisation drive and furthering its presence in the country. This move is expected to contribute to the development of the fintech sector and enhance financial services in India.
In addition to the investment, Pichai outlined specific initiatives that Google aims to undertake in India. One of these includes the development of a unified artificial intelligence (AI) model capable of processing over 100 Indian languages across speech and text. This aligns with Google's global effort to bring the world's most spoken languages online and empower people to access information and knowledge in their preferred languages.
Further, Google expressed its support for the establishment of a new, multidisciplinary center for responsible AI in collaboration with IIT Madras.
